ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Compliance Officer at BESA, you will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of accountability and care within our organisation. Your primary responsibility will be to safeguard sensitive data while ensuring that BESA not only meets but exceeds rigorous compliance standards. You will lead the management of our Quality Management System (QMS), ISO 9001 certification, and GDPR adherence across all departments, demonstrating our commitment to continuous improvement.

This role demands agility and customer empathy, as you will be the trusted advisor on all compliance-related matters, guiding both internal teams and external clients through evolving regulations. You will partner with external auditors, collaborate with department heads to integrate compliance measures seamlessly, and proactively manage risks while implementing corrective actions swiftly and effectively.

Key Duties

• Partner with external auditors to navigate certifications and audits, ensuring BESA’s continued compliance and promoting a culture of responsibility.
• Lead the development and implementation of new systems and processes that promote secure data practices and client compliance, always striving for better.
• Work closely with department heads to ensure compliance measures are user-friendly and integrated smoothly into daily operations, enhancing customer trust.
• Proactively manage risks, spearhead corrective actions, and stay abreast of evolving regulations to maintain compliance in a cost-effective manner.
• Conduct horizon scanning of statutory and regulatory obligations, such as money laundering regulations, to identify and assess potential impacts on Group businesses.

ABOUT YOU

Qualification, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in compliance within a regulated environment. A proven track record in achieving ISO/GDPR compliance is preferred.
• Proficiency in quality management and information security tools, with experience in developing compliance programs and training materials.
• Strong knowledge of compliance risk management and data protection (GDPR), with demonstrable experience in conducting internal audits for ISO 9001.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to educate stakeholders and solve compliance challenges effectively.

Desirable Qualifications:

• A degree in a relevant field (Law, Business, Finance).
• Certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or project management qualifications
• Active membership in professional bodies like the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) or the Institute of Risk Management (IRM)
